Administrator of the Year - William Cleary
Brooklawn Middle School - 2016

William "Bill" Cleary has been at Brooklawn Middle School for 19 years as an Assistant Principal and 8 years prior to that as an Assistant Principal at Parsippany Hills High School. He has been an administrator for nearly 40 years overall.

In the words of Student Council President Kelsey Mogan, "Mr. Cleary makes the students his number one priority, and is always there when a student is in need. He can often be found at athletic events where he is constantly cheering on and encouraging our athletes. He supports all the clubs and takes pride in the talent students display in plays and concerts." She adds, "This man is a true inspiration to every student he encounters, and spreads positivity and care to all those around him."

In the words of Student Council Co-Advisor Alison Franz, "It is clear by his interaction with students and staff that he is not there simply because of his role in the building, but because he believes in the program and the tremendous benefits it offers to school and community."

We congratulate Bill Cleary and the Brooklawn Middle School community on his achievement of this award. The established excellence for student leadership at Brooklawn, including that of several past NJASC State Officers, is a direct and tangible result of his guidance, support, and encouragement.

Congratulations to CHOICES 2016 Lehigh University Winners

Charting Horizons and Opportunities in Careers in Engineering & Science

Five lucky students from BMS and five students from CMS were selected to attend an amazing science/engineering opportunity at Lehigh University.  In an effort to get more girls interested in careers in science and engineering, Lehigh invites young ladies to spend a day immersed in hands on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) based activities. They were able to collaborate and complete projects with girls from other schools across NJ & PA, interact with female college students pursuing majors in engineering,  & experience a real college campus.  The students were selected based on teacher and guidance counselor recommendation. Congratulations to the following students:

7th graders:  Sonakshi Aggarwal, Shaleen Bordawekar, Aarushi Deo and

8th graders:  Ishani Dave and Courtney Hospes

Brooklawn was represented in the Morris Catholic Middle School Science Expo

On April 16, 2016, four dedicated BMS students participated in the Morris Catholic Middle School Science Expo.  At the science fair, Suchit Bapatla and Yuvanshu Agarwal (7th graders) won an award for “Most Creative Project” by demonstrating their understanding of tidal energy and how it is harvested. Ten other schools participated in the science fair. Brooklawn Middle School was the only public middle school to enter the event. Mohammad Ali and Karthik Kundurthy also participated in the event by presenting a slideshow on the Doppler effect.  The projects were judged by students from the National Honors Science Association. We are very proud of our young scientists.
