Math – Grade 6

The purpose of this course, the first in the three-year middle school sequence, is to prepare
students for higher-level mathematics.   The course has been designed to further student understanding of mathematical concepts in each of five areas identified by the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) as critical in Grade 6.

These areas are:

  • Expressions and Equations

  • Geometry

  • Ratios and Proportional Relationships

  • The Number System

  • Statistics and Probability

Math – Grade 7

The purpose of this course, the second in the three-year middle school sequence, is to prepare students for higher-level mathematics.   The course has been designed to further student understanding of mathematical concepts in each of five areas identified by the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) as critical in Grade 7.

These areas are:

  • Expressions and Equations

  • Geometry

  • Ratios and Proportional Relationships

  • The Number System

  • Statistics and Probability

Math – Grade 8

The purpose of this course, the third in the three-year middle school sequence, is to prepare students for higher-level mathematics.   The course has been designed to further student understanding of mathematical concepts in each of five areas identified by the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) as critical in Grade 8.

These areas are:

  • Expressions and Equations

  • Functions

  • Geometry

  • The Number System

  • Statistics and Probability

Algebra – Grade 7 or 8

- Successful completion of Accelerated Grade 6 Math or Advanced Grade 7 Math

Algebra I is the first in a sequence of courses that develops the study of high school mathematics.  The course has been designed to further student understanding of
mathematical concepts in the areas identified by the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) as critical in high school.

These areas are:

  • Algebra

  • Functions

  • Geometry

  • Modeling

  • Number and Quantity

  • Statistics and Probability

Geometry – Grade 8

- Successful completion of Grade 7 Algebra 1

This course is a challenging academic treatment of geometry integrated with algebra. The ability to understand a mathematical system and its component parts are at the heart of the course. Developing a logical argument is an important outcome. Real world applications and the use of computer technology to augment instruction are incorporated at specific times throughout the year.
